15 Witchy Ways to Use Pumpkin Spice in Your Seasonal Craft
1. DIY Pumpkin Pie Spice
First of all, if you don’t have your own stash, you can make some using common spices you likely already have in your cabinet. As we said before, most pumpkin spices are a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, and clove (in descending order). Simply combine 3 tablespoons cinnamon with 2 teaspoons ginger, 1 and 1/2 ground nutmeg, 1 teaspoon clove, and 1 teaspoon allspice. Keep in a jar or air-tight container and use through the holiday season in your kitchen witchery, spells, and more!
2. A Witchy Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Syrup
Yummy. PSL, PSL, PSL. No three letters have so much power in the Autumn season. Am I right? But those seasonal lattes can get pretty expensive if you’re buying them all the time. So why not make your own homemade pumpkin spice latte syrup AND mix your witchy intentions in as you make it? Here’s our favorite recipe. Just be sure to charge the syrup with your intentions while making it! It’s as simple as stating your intentions out loud…you can even sing or chant them too.
3. Pumpkin Spice Cookies for Prosperity
One of my favorite kinds of witchy cookies to make over the holiday season is pumpkin cookies. I have my grandmother’s recipe that includes a delicious brown sugar frosting. Between the magical properties in the pumpkin spice and the brown sugar frosting, when I bake a batch my intention is almost always on prosperity. And these babies always work!
4. Pumpkin Bread for Sustenance
There’s nothing more magical than smelling pumpkin bread baking in the oven. My kids get excited every time we make this special witchy treat. Not only is it a great dessert when paired with vanilla ice cream, but it makes for a sweet breakfast during the holidays, as well. The spices and pumpkin make up the meat of this bread, so to speak, and bring prosperity and joy into the home. And of course it’s a great form of sustenance all around. The wheat in pumpkin bread represents rebirth and regeneration, as well.
5. Pumpkin Spice: Pump Up Your Candle Spells
Outside the realm of kitchen witchery, pumpkin spice magic properties are powerful when utilized in candle spells. YES candle spells! This is as easy as sprinkling the pumpkin spice around the candle OR rubbing oil onto the candle and dressing it with pumpkin spice. Don’t go overboard when dressing your candles with herbs or spices as it can start a fire. This method of using pumpkin spice in witchcraft is effective and fun. And perfect for Autumnal magick.
6. Pumpkin Spice Oil
Did you know you can make your own magically-infused oils? Making pumpkin spice oil is one of the easiest to make! All you need is a carrier oil (I typically use sunflower, jojoba, or olive oil but use what you have) and the ingredients of pumpkin spice. Find a small bottle or jar with an air-tight lid, add a teaspoon to a tablespoon of the spice. Then fill the bottle/jar almost to the top with your oil. Close and shake. Store in a cool, dark place for up to two weeks. Then strain and use the oil to anoint candles for candle spells, bless doorways and windows for prosperity, and more!
7. Pumpkin Juice for Potterheads and Prosperity
Did you know there’s such a thing as pumpkin juice? Yes you can actually drink pumpkin! If you’re a Potterhead like my family, you’ve probably heard of pumpkin juice before. Our favorite recipe consists of apple cider, pumpkin puree, sugar, spices, and vanilla. You can find that recipe at FavFamilyRecipes here. This is such a festive Autumn through Winter drink and pleases the entire family. PLUS brings prosperity, protection, and joy to the home.
8. Pumpkin Blondies
When we say “blondies” we aren’t talking about the lady next door. We’re talking about the vanilla version of brownies! These are a delicious treat in and of themselves, but add pumpkin to them and WHOA. The magic really happens. You can even add chocolate chips to them to step up your blondie game. Try this recipe and let us know what you think. Again, all magical properties apply here.
9. Pumpkin Pie Sigils and Symbols
Such an American thing to bake and eat pumpkin pie during the holidays. But how can we witch-ify this traditional dessert? First of all, pumpkin and pumpkin spice are two magical ingredients that make up the meat of this pastry. Secondly, have you ever carved/inscribed a sigil into your pumpkin crust before adding the filling? Well, now you have to try it. Any sigil or symbol in alignment with your intention works a treat. Literally.
10. Pumpkin Log (Roll) for Fun
Ever had a pumpkin roll? I like to call these sweet desserts “pumpkin logs” because they remind me of the Yule log. Except you can make a pumpkin log (roll) any time starting September 1st through the holiday season. At least, I’ll give you permission. Try this recipe from TastesBetterFromScratch. In addition to the potent pumpkin ingredients, pumpkin rolls also contain cream cheese and butter. Which both ultimately come from cow’s milk and bring a little of the mother goddess’ energy into this dessert.
11. Pumpkin Spice Pancakes for Saturday Morning Joy
You can literally purchase pumpkin spice pancake mix from Walmart and other grocery stores during the Autumn season. So making pumpkin spice pancakes in the mornings (or any time) is a breeze. These are especially delicious on a cold Saturday morning. Have the kids roll out of bed to the aroma of pumpkin spice wafting up from the kitchen. Pumpkin spice pancakes bring joy to the household.
12. Pumpkin Spice Bread Pudding
Well, this might not seem like a magical dish to you, but to me, bread pudding has been in my family for decades. We have a recipe from my great grandmother that we’ve all made for years that just last year I tweaked. Instead of regular bread pudding, I added pumpkin puree and pumpkin spice to bring in those mystical Autumn vibes. If you want my recipe, click here.
13. Creamy Vegan Pumpkin Soup
We can’t talk about all the ways to use pumpkin spice in magic without including our Vegan friends, can we? Since pumpkin is an all natural plant that can be turned into many different dishes, how about trying a creamy vegan pumpkin soup? For this recipe, you can add just a pinch of pumpkin spice to include its properties but don’t go overboard! And remember that pumpkin by itself brings prosperity, protection, fertility, creativity, and more.
14. An Aromatic Simmer Pot
One of my favorite ways to raise the vibrations in my house is to make a simmer pot on my kitchen stove. It’s as easy as filling a pot part-way with water then adding herbs and fruits and bringing to a simmer. It’s potpourri…but for witches. And if you love to make your house smell like a coffee shop? Then this aromatic pumpkin simmer pot is for you!
15. Pumpkin Cheesecake for Love
Last but not least, we can’t forget the luscious, rich pumpkin cheesecake. I don’t know if cheesecake is considered an aphrodisiac, but it is to me. So I’m recommending to bake and feed your love a pumpkin cheesecake this Fall or Winter season for ultimate lovey-dovey results. Seriously, what can it hurt to try?
